Comedy thriller by Paul Mendelson, set in the 1960s, featuring Scotland Yard's most unwanted man, Chief Inspector
Wilfred Dover, and his long-suffering gofer, Sergeant McGregor. A young woman, Isabel Slatcher, has been in an
irreversible coma for months after being shot outside her local church in a small northern town. Now she has been
smothered - murdered. Who killed her? Was it the person that shot her and why have they waited until now to complete
their evil crime?

A murder mystery from the ingenious pen of Paul Mendelson, who usually writes offbeat
comedies with a twist of wry and sprinkle of sound good sense. This one’s about a woman murdered while in a coma.
Her fiancé seems an obvious suspect. Perhaps too obvious? Chief Inspector Dover is played by Kenneth Cranham, his
sidekick Sergeant McGregor by Stuart McQuarrie, with Philip Whitchurch as chief Constable Muckle (who’s told
Dover he’s not happy with his arrest rate).
